Meet Dr. Cary Hirsch

Heart patients in the Lower Hudson Valley have recognized Cary L. Hirsch, MD, FACC, of Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center as one of America’s most compassionate doctors, earning him a coveted Patients’ Choice Award in 2011. Based on reviews written and submitted by patients, the Patients’ Choice Award is given to less than 3% of the 720,000 practicing physicians in the United States.

The award was just one of many accolades Dr. Hirsch has received. He was also named “America’s Top Physician – Interventional Cardiology” by the Consumer Research Council of America. In addition, he is a sought-after speaker and has been published in a number of prestigious medical journals, including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and the Journal of Clinical Investigation.

A world-renowned interventional cardiologist leading the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Good Samaritan, Dr. Hirsch earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo Medical School. He holds three board certifications: interventional cardiology, cardiology and internal medicine.

Dr. Hirsch also spearheads a number of clinical trials at Good Samaritan’s Active International Cardiovascular Institute—participating in more than 35 to date. These trials are critical drivers in today’s evidence-based medicine, helping researchers test and identify validated medical advances that benefit patients everywhere.

Dr. Hirsch’s leadership background is equally rich and impressive. For Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, he currently serves as president of the medical staff; the director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory; a member of the medical executive committee; the medical director of clinical innovation and quality; and is the chief of the Department of Cardiology. He was previously vice president of the medical staff for Good Samaritan. Dr. Hirsch is also a visiting attending physician of Mount Sinai Hospital.

As evidenced by his recent Patients’ Choice Award, Dr. Hirsch’s highly developed skills as a physician and leader are matched by his compassionate approach to patient care. In his career, he has saved and improved the quality of life for thousands of patients suffering from heart disease.
